Kiranavali's Gurus
Gurur Brahma gurur Vishnur Gurur Devo Maheshwarah
Gurus sakshat param brahma tasmai Sri gurave namah
One of the most oft-repeated chants in the life of an Indian, this verse is a clear reflection of the cultural values of this ancient civilization. The references to Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara signify the creation of good in us, its preservation, and the destruction of evil tendencies respectively. The enablers of these are the human gurus, who are accorded a status on par with the Gods themselves.
Kiranavali truly believes that her greatest blessing in life has been her gurus, for each has made a distinct impression on her while being unified in a common value system of pursuing truth and excellence. Her father Narasimhan planted the seed of interest and laid all the groundwork with loving care and attention, while her brother Ravikiran and the late T Brinda added their own ingredients. Narasimhan and Ravikiran continue to engage with her musically even today through serious and fun discussions and musical sessions.
